Brother PE900 vs SE2000: do you need sewing too?
Both have a 5 × 7 inch embroidery field. The important difference is whether you also need a sewing machine.
What both machines offer
Brother lists a 130 × 180 mm embroidery field, 193 built-in embroidery designs, 13 embroidery fonts and embroidery speeds up to 650 stitches per minute for both models. Both offer wireless design transfer and jump stitch trimming. These specifications do not mean every design will stitch at maximum speed.
Why choose the PE900
The PE900 is embroidery-only. If your existing sewing machine already handles garment construction, a dedicated embroidery machine avoids paying for another set of sewing functions you may not use. Check current retailer prices rather than treating an older quoted price as a live offer.
Why choose the SE2000
The SE2000 combines sewing and embroidery and includes 241 sewing stitches. It is the more relevant option if you want to sew seams, make repairs and embroider with one machine. Switching workflows still requires the right accessories and setup.
What will not improve
Moving between these models does not increase the embroidery field beyond 130 × 180 mm. If a design is too large for a PE900, the SE2000 does not solve that problem. Check the design dimensions in our tool before paying for either.
